Ethiopia victory


The centennial of the Battle of Adwa was commemorated in 1996.

This battle was fought in the town of Adwa in 1896 between Italy and Ethiopia.

Shown on this stamp are Emperor Menelik II, who reigned from 1889 to 1913, and Empress Taytu.

Here is a better quality made by the House of Questa, stamp printers in Great Britain which also printed Philippine topical sets in the 1970s and 1980s featuring fishes, birds, animals, flowers, dogs and cats, parrots, butterflies, sports, water transportation, trains, and horses.

Although the stamps above are dated 1993, these were issued also in 1994 as the poor quality set.
