Eritrea, a country in northeast Africa, is a little larger than Luzon Island, but its population is just about half of Metro Manila.
As a former Italian colony, Eritrea began issuing stamps in 1892.The region was under British occupation from 1941 to 1952 before it became part of Ethiopia.
Independence from Ethiopia came in 1993 and as an independent state it began issuing stamps from that year on.
The stamps above depict the national flag of Eritrea.
