First Cents Issue 1c

A challenge in collecting the 1 cent value of the First Cents Issue of Canada is finding a well-centered copy.

This stamp, in general, is poorly centered: Two are shown above.

The First Cents were issued in 1859 (1c, 5c, 10c in two colors, 12-1/2c, 17c) and 1864 (2c). Previously, the stamps of Canada were denominated in pence.

For the 1 cent, profile is Queen Victoria and color is rose.
